Fishing Reports
February 2010

This winter has not been much to brag about. We have had the coldest weather since 1958 and it has showed in the amount of fish that we have been catching. It seems like every week we have a cold front come in and drops the water temperature more and more. The sun during the day warms the water up and then the 30 degree nights takes it back down. We have had very few days where the water temperature rose into the high 60’s.
The problem which some may already know here in Florida the bass do not bite when these cold fronts come threw. The head for the heaviest cover they can find, burry up and shut their mouth.

The fish I am catching show’s that  the larger fish in the seven to ten lb range have already spawn out. The fish in the two to six lb. Range are full of eggs and ready to spawn. Most of the fishing so far has been concentrated on Garcia . This lake is one you can always fish when the wind is coming out of the north and believe me the wind has been blowing since November.

March 2010

The weather is starting to straighten up and this month should a fantastic month for the Bass and Crappie to turn on. It should be great for all the body’s of water I fish. The stick marsh/farm 13, Garcia, blue cypress and the canals will all turn on and stay hot threw May.
Talking about the stick marsh/farm 13, the fishing has been really slow this year compared to previous years.
I know that there are still many trophy fish in the lake despite sum of the reports out there. You cannot take a lake that has been catch and release for 20 years and all a sudden there are no fish left. I caught a lot of quality fish out there last summer and fall and it will turn on shortly.

Hot new lure for the stick marsh and Garcia
